Our History

Originally formed as The Poway Alano Club, the organization was established by 25 members of Alcoholics Anonymous in a small room on Garden Road. Their vision was to have a permanent site to provide groups space to have recovery meetings.

The Club moves to a larger facility on Pomerado Road, expanding services and hosting recovery meetings.

The Poway Alano Club is officially incorporated as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.

The Club loses its lease after 30 years at the Pomerado location. Dozens of groups are forced to find alternative locations to have their meetings.

The Poway Alano Club finds welcoming space at 13939/13941 Poway Road (Suites 10,11 and A) As with the original club, many members donated time and resources to build and renovate our new home.

The Club operated mostly with virtual meetings and very few in person meetings due to the Covid pandemic. The pandemic proved to be too much for the club to rely on individual donations. The decision was made to transition to a non-profit status which allowed donations in the form of grants and other outside sources to be possible.

The Poway Alano Club was dissolved to make way for the current Poway Recovery Center. The Poway Recovery Center has become a broad and diverse venue. We welcome all types of recovery and offer a broad range of support groups and resources.
